Potion Making

And when I say potions I mean cocktails I’ve named after potions because it’s Hallowe’en. So if you’re under 18 you can scurry off now.

Note all cocktails are made by mixing everything together with a shit load of ice. 1 part is generally a shot, 25 ml.

Felix Felicis

2 Parts dark rum
1 Part Honey
1 Part Orange Juice
1 Part Lemon Juice

This comes out an attractive golden colour, you can also make a version with scotch instead of rum, which is great if you like scotch but painful if you don’t.

Draught of Living Death

2 Parts gin
1/2 Measure of lemon juice
1/2 Measure of Maraschino (Cherry liqueur)
1/2 Measure Crème de Violette

Comes out a lovely cloudy lilac colour, just like an almost finished potion.

Drink of Despair

1 Part Vodka
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp vanilla essence
1 Part blackberry liqueur
1 Part apple juice

This isn’t the emerald green of the Drink of Despair potion but it’s blackish colour seems more appropriate to me.

Wolfsbane Potion

1/2 Measure blue Curacao
1 1/2 Part white rum
1 1/2 Part creme de menthe
1 Part lime
2 Part soda water

Pale blue like the smoke on wolfsbane. I hear sugar makes it useless.

Draught of Peace

1 Part gin
1 Part vermouth
1/2 tsp  sugar syrup
1/2 tsp Maraschino
2 dashes of bitters

1 Part Vodka
1 Dash Vermouth
1 Part soda water

Clear as the truth itself. It tastes like hell.
